EducationHello everyone! I am a freshman at UW Madison, double majoring in political science and economics.
I was homeschooled all the way through 11th grade by my mom, a journalism major, who worked hard to hone my writing skills and give me a solid grounding in many different forms of writing. I graduated high school from St. Ambrose Academy in Madison.
ExperienceI began learning Latin in 5th grade. This year I taught a course in Henle Latin to three middle-school boys, which was amazingly rewarding. Figuring out how to explain topics in an easy-to-understand way is truly an art form, and it was wonderful to watch kids begin to understand and become fluent in this beautiful old language.
I received a score of 800 on the critical reading portion of the SAT, and a 790 on the writing portion.
I have always considered writing to be the highest form of art, and my greatest passion is finding ways to express thought in the most beautiful, concise way possible. As such, I adore helping people improve their command of language.
Some examples of things I am eager to help you with:
—Writing papers, articles, stories, or any other writing project. Bring me your ideas or your prompt and I will walk you through the steps to help you craft a beautiful piece of writing.
—Editing any of your writing. Let’s polish that essay or story until it gleams. We will go through your writing with a fine-tooth comb, find areas for improvement, and make them beautiful. Spots where the writing is clunky? Let’s think of a way to rephrase that sentence in a more concise way. Grammar, punctuation, or spelling mistakes? Banished.
—Getting that A+ in English, Literature, Reading, Spelling, or Writing. Struggling in a certain area? Tell me what you need help with, and let’s go through it in detail and practice. Just want some extra review? Can do.
—Improving your language skills in any way. Want to learn grammar, master a new form of writing, or improve your reading comprehension? Let’s get cracking.
—Scoring an A+ in Latin class. Whether you’re struggling with a specific topic or need extra overall practice, I am here to help.
—Learning Latin outside of school. We can schedule class 1 or more times a week, and I will take you through the contents of a complete Latin course. I have taught Henle I (and completed all four years as a student), and have experience with Wheelock and Latina Christiana.
—Latin for young children. Want your children to be exposed to the benefits of classical language from an early age? Using materials ranging from Prima Latina (for older elementary-schoolers) to Latin picture books (for the wee ones), I will scale my teaching to your child’s age and ability level so they will be fully exposed and prepared to learn this beautiful language.

HobbiesOther than writing, some of my main passions are politics, psychology, philosophy, and outer space, especially Mars. Hobbies include cross country running, gardening, and hanging out with my huge St. Bernard. I strike up conversations with random strangers, ask deep questions, laugh a lot, and generally try to wring every last drop out of life.
